COWEB Project organized the International Forum ‘Mapping the Gaps in Virtual Collaborative Learning’, hosted by International Burch University, Sarajevo, B&H

Sarajevo, July 15, 2023 - International Burch University hosted the International Forum of the #COWEB Project, titled "Mapping the Gaps in Virtual Collaborative Learning." The two-day event, held on July 11th and 12th, brought together partners and stakeholders from seven countries, including partners from the Western Balkan region and EU. The forum provided a platform for in-depth discussions on the potential benefits and opportunities of Virtual Collaborative Learning approaches for universities and their students.
The forums agenda featured respected speakers who shared their expertise and insights. Esmir Demaj, PhD, COWEB Project Manager, from EPOKA University, delivered a presentation on "Empowering Education through Digitalization: COWEB in line with EUs Priority for a Digital Future." Prof. Eric Schoop talked about the VCL concept and its journey while highlighting the pivotal points for successful implementation of Virtual Collaborative Learning. Furthermore, best practices already experimented and implemented in EU countries were presented by Mattis Altmann from Technische Universität Dresden, Valentina Ndou from Università del Salento, and Ales Trunk from ISSBS.
Special appreciation to International Burch University for hosting and organizing this remarkable event and special thanks go to Malcolm Duerod, PhD for his great moderation and organization of the forum. The forum provided an excellent opportunity for participants to come together, discuss the progress of the project, and explore further developments in Virtual Collaborative Learning initiatives.
The International Forum of the #COWEB Project served as a milestone in advancing the project activities and its objectives to contribute to the future of higher education. By sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and embracing digitalization, universities aim to empower students and bridge the gaps in virtual collaborative learning and digital competencies. The event marked a significant step forward in the ongoing pursuit of innovative educational approaches that prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital world. As the outcomes of the COWEB project continue to resonate, it is anticipated that they will contribute to further shaping the future of higher education and student digital competencies in the region and beyond in congruence with the EU priorities for a Digitally Empowered Europe 2030, EC Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027, EC Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans Area etc.
